Drawing on Location, July 2022
These drawings have been made on location with pencil on paper, and colored afterwards with procreate on an iPad and sometimes with marker pens.
It is a simpler approach to image making. Everything is loose, first attempt, rough. There is a focus on speed but also feeling.
I try to capture the quirks and idiosyncrasies of a place or scene.
What is captured once in a line, stays in memory and creates a familiarity, that would be hard to attain in any other form.
All of these images have their basic form in a yellow sketchbook, but they are not nearly laid out as neatly as in these mockups.
Failure must always be an option.
